Ukraine Says It Is Blocking Push Into Northern Pokrovsk as Daily Clashes Stay High

The military cites organized pullbacks and deep strikes on Russian depots as UN monitors record a sharp rise in civilian harm and energy attacks.

Overview

  • Ukrainian forces reported 139 combat engagements on Dec. 8, including 43 Russian assaults repelled on the Pokrovsk axis, and said 62 clashes had occurred by mid‑afternoon on Dec. 9 with many in Donetsk’s Pokrovsk and Oleksandrivske sectors.
  • The 7th Air Assault Corps confirmed a planned withdrawal from Lysivka and Sukhy Yar south of Myrnohrad, describing the move as a shift to more defensible positions to avoid encirclement.
  • Ukraine reported overnight strikes on occupied areas hitting an ammunition depot near Chmyrivka, a fuel site near Semeikyne, a UAV warehouse near Donetsk, and a Pantsir‑S1 system, and confirmed earlier damage to Russia’s Temryuk port with 20 storage tanks destroyed.
  • Regional authorities reported fresh civilian casualties across Donetsk, Kherson, Sumy and other regions, and said power infrastructure damage left about 5,200 customers without electricity in Zaporizhzhia district.
  • The Eastern Grouping said troops are blocking Russian attempts to infiltrate northern Pokrovsk and are reinforcing logistics routes to sustain units in Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad.
