Ukraine Repels Overnight Massed Drone and Missile Barrage as Heavy Battles Flare Near Pokrovsk

Air defenses report downing most of hundreds of targets, but strikes killed three people and renewed urgent calls for more systems.

  • Officials said Russia launched 40 missiles and about 580 strike drones overnight, and Ukraine reported neutralizing 552 drones as well as two ballistic and 29 cruise missiles, with F-16s engaged against cruise missiles.

  • The General Staff logged 125 engagements by evening on September 20, with the fiercest fighting on the Pokrovsk and Novopavlivsk axes, where Russia mounted 33 attacks and, according to Ukraine, lost 178 troops on the Pokrovsk front.
