Overview

  • Foreign ministers of Ukraine, Moldova and Romania met in Chernivtsi on August 8 and signed a joint statement renaming their format the Odesa Triangle.
  • Poland’s foreign minister Radosław Sikorski and Lithuania’s foreign minister Kęstutis Budrys joined the talks online for the first time, extending the initiative’s regional reach.
  • Andrii Sybiha and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas coordinated diplomatic steps to secure a just, durable and comprehensive peace in Ukraine.
  • Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Țoiu agreed to deepen defense cooperation and intensify joint infrastructure projects, including a bridge over the Tisza River.
  • President Zelenskyy informed Țoiu of intensified Russian attacks near Romania’s border and welcomed Romania’s parliamentary decision to authorize shooting down Russian targets in its airspace.
