Ukraine Fends Off 165 Russian Assaults in Pokrovsk Front

Kyiv has deployed extra forces to counter small-group infiltrations after heavy Russian missile, drone and artillery strikes inflicted both military and civilian casualties.

  • The Ukrainian General Staff reported 165 combat clashes on Aug. 12–13, marking one of the highest single-day totals, with the fiercest action in the Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka and Lyman sectors.
  • Russian forces conducted two missile strikes, 89 air raids, over 5,100 artillery barrages and more than 4,100 loitering munitions launches against Ukrainian positions and nearby settlements.
  • A nighttime Russian missile strike on a Ukrainian Ground Forces training unit killed one soldier, wounded 11 and left another 12 seeking treatment for concussion symptoms and acute stress reactions.
  • Shelling and drone attacks in Kherson wounded six civilians and two State Emergency Service responders, damaging homes, a gas station and vehicles and triggering a war-crime probe.
  • A New York Times report via Ukrinform alleges at least ten foreign volunteers were killed in a July 21 strike on a Kirovohrad training camp, and Ukrainian authorities are investigating the incident.
