Ukraine Eliminates Russian FSB Agents After Kyiv Assassination

SBU chief Vasyl Malyuk said agents were located in a Kyiv-region hideout before opening fire on arresting officers

  • Two FSB operatives suspected of assassinating SBU Col. Ivan Voronych on July 10 were killed by SBU special forces in the Kyiv region after they resisted arrest.
  • The female suspect was identified as 34-year-old Narmin Guliyeva while the male operative remains unnamed by Ukrainian authorities.
  • Lt. Gen. Vasyl Malyuk said covert counterintelligence work uncovered the suspects’ residential hideout where they had earlier stashed a silenced pistol used in the assassination.
  • The operatives had been directed by the FSB to surveil Voronych’s daily routine and use the cached weapon to carry out a daylight shooting in central Kyiv.
  • Ukrainian authorities say they will maintain intensified counterintelligence operations to thwart further espionage and targeted killings on domestic soil.
