Ukraine Defence Chief Reviews Kyiv Air Defences at Front‑line Command Posts
Khmara ordered rapid changes to detection, tracking and engagement and pushed to scale Ukrainian and partner-built systems to stop Shahed-style drones before they reach the capital.
Overview
- Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara visited Air Force command posts in the Kyiv region to review operations and discussion tactics for protecting the capital.
- He directed faster changes to how units detect, track, decide and engage aerial threats and told aviation, air‑defence and mobile fire teams to adapt to the new attack patterns.
- The ministry flagged jet-powered attack drones such as Shahed models as a priority threat and said those drones are being shot down while larger-scale countermeasures are rushed into service.
- Khmara ordered work with Ukrainian manufacturers and international partners to scale and deliver C‑UAS and interceptor solutions more quickly and postponed planned trips to Germany and Norway because of the spike in attacks.
- Officials reiterated that long-range Ukrainian strikes will continue to degrade Russian capabilities while Kyiv presses allies for faster deliveries and funding for interceptors, air‑to‑air missiles and other urgent supplies.
