Ukraine Deep-Strike Drones Ignite Fires at Russian Refineries and Bases

Kyiv says the raids are meant to choke Russia’s frontline fuel reserves to undermine its drone campaign.

Overview

  • The Security Service of Ukraine said its drones struck Russia’s Primorsko-Akhtarsk Shahed storage airbase and an electronics factory in Penza that supplies the military-industrial complex.
  • Governors in Penza, Samara and Rostov confirmed at least three civilian deaths and multiple injuries from falling debris and fires caused by the drone strikes.
  • Russia’s defence ministry said its air defenses shot down 338 Ukrainian drones overnight, while Ukraine’s air force reported downing 45 of 53 Russian drones launched toward its territory.
  • A separate Ukrainian drone attack on a Sochi oil depot triggered a large fire and briefly halted flights at the resort’s airport, Russia’s aviation regulator Rosaviatsia said.
