Ukraine Anti-Corruption Court Cuts Lviv’s Bail to ₴20 Million as Appeals Panel Seizes Bail, Issues International Warrant in Separate Case

Anti-corruption prosecutors intend to appeal the bail reduction, following an appellate move to pursue a fugitive in the Ukrinmash embezzlement case.

Overview

  • Investigating judge at the High Anti-Corruption Court reduced former Supreme Court deputy Bohdan Lviv’s bail from ₴302.8 million to ₴20 million, leaving his procedural obligations unchanged.
  • Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office says it will challenge the decision after prosecutors had requested pre-trial detention instead of a lower bail.
  • The court rejected proposed sureties from former High Administrative Court head Oleksandr Nechitailo and ex–High Council of Justice chair Volodymyr Hovorukha.
  • Lviv is accused of aiding the takeover of the Ukrainian section of the Samara–West oil-products pipeline and influencing judges over its 2017 transfer to a company linked to Viktor Medvedchuk; the probe moved from the SBU to NABU in June.
  • In a separate Ukrinmash case, the VAKS Appellate Chamber converted ₴3,404,000 in bail to state revenue, declared the former deputy general director internationally wanted, and set pre-trial detention to apply upon capture in an embezzlement scheme alleged to have caused nearly ₴3.5 million in losses that is now under appeal.
