Ukraine and Baltic Nations to Boycott OSCE Meeting Over Lavrov's Attendance
Bulgaria grants airspace permission for Lavrov's travel despite EU sanctions
- Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania have announced they will boycott an upcoming meeting of the OSCE European security watchdog in North Macedonia due to the planned attendance of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
- This would be Lavrov's first participation in an OSCE meeting since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
- The meeting of the 57-member OSCE is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 1 in North Macedonia's capital, Skopje.
- Bulgaria, a NATO member, has reportedly granted permission for Lavrov's plane to fly through its airspace, despite EU sanctions that have closed Bulgarian airspace to Russian aircraft.
- Lavrov has stated that he has received requests for bilateral meetings from several foreign ministers who plan to attend the OSCE meeting.
