UK Woman Sentenced in First-Ever 'Cyber-Farting' Harassment Case

Rhiannon Evans, a 25-year-old from Wales, admitted to sending multiple videos of herself farting to her boyfriend's ex, Deborah Prytherch, during the 2024 holiday season.
The videos, described as malicious by prosecutors, were intended to cause distress and anxiety to the recipient, who stated she no longer felt safe in her home.
The harassment stemmed from ongoing disputes over child custody involving Evans' partner and Prytherch.
Evans was sentenced to a 12-month community order, 15 rehabilitation sessions, 60 days of alcohol abstinence monitoring, and a two-year restraining order, and she was ordered to pay compensation and court costs.
The case has been dubbed the UK's first 'cyber-farting' legal proceeding, raising questions about the boundaries of digital harassment and personal accountability.
