UK Woman Returns to Work After Life-Saving Surgery Removing Eight Organs

Faye Louise, who underwent an extensive operation to treat a rare abdominal cancer, is now cancer-free and resuming her role at Gatwick Airport.

  • Faye Louise, a former model from Horsham, West Sussex, was diagnosed with pseudomyxoma peritonei, a rare abdominal cancer, in 2023 after experiencing persistent stomach pains.
  • The cancer required an 11-hour surgery that involved the removal of eight organs, including her spleen, gallbladder, appendix, uterus, ovaries, and part of her liver, as well as other abdominal tissues.
  • Following the complex procedure, Louise was declared cancer-free and has since resumed her physically demanding job as a flight dispatcher at Gatwick Airport.
  • She continues to undergo annual scans each November to monitor her health and acknowledges the emotional toll of waiting for results during the holiday season.
  • Louise has actively fundraised for Cancer Research UK, participating in events such as the Race for Life and other local initiatives, while expressing gratitude to the medical team that saved her life.
