UK vinyl sales have reached their highest level since 1990, with over 5.9 million units sold in 2023, marking a rise of nearly 12% on the previous year.
Taylor Swift's re-recorded album '1989' was the best-selling vinyl LP of the year, with two more of her albums also in the top ten.
Despite the rise in vinyl sales, the majority of music is still consumed via streaming, with 86% of recorded music consumed in the UK done through streaming apps.
The resurgence of physical music formats has been attributed to their collectability, sound quality, and the success of independent record stores and music chains like HMV.
CD sales have also seen their slowest decline in several years, with nearly 11 million units sold in 2023.
