UK to Require Electronic Travel Authorization for Visitors Starting April 2025

The new system applies to most non-UK and non-Irish travelers, with applications opening on March 5 for a fee of £10.

  • The UK will implement an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system for most non-UK and non-Irish travelers beginning April 2, 2025.
  • The ETA, which costs £10 (approximately €12), can be applied for online or via the UK ETA app starting March 5, 2025.
  • Travelers must provide a valid biometric passport, a recent digital photo, an email address, and an electronic payment method to apply.
  • The authorization is valid for two years or until the associated passport expires and allows multiple stays of up to six months each.
  • Exceptions to the ETA requirement include school groups of minors under 18, who will continue to follow existing travel protocols.
