UK to ban many foreign students from bringing families, changing visas

The UK will remove the right of some international students to bring family members into the country.
The measures aim to reduce annual net migration, which reached a record high last year.
Postgraduate students (except those on research programmes) will be affected by the new measures.
The measures will remove the ability for international students to switch out of the student route into work routes before their studies have been completed.
The new rules will take effect in January.
