Britain says intelligence points to a Kremlin effort to erase Ukrainian identity through child removals.

Overview

  • Eight individuals and three organisations were designated by the U.K. for roles in the abduction and indoctrination of Ukrainian children.
  • Aymani Kadyrova and the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation were named, along with Volunteers of Victory, the Movement of the First, Valery Maiorov, Zamid Chalayev, Anastasia Akkuratova, Leyla Fazleeva and Rinat Sadykov.
  • The measures include asset freezes, travel bans and related penalties.
  • The U.K. cited assessments that more than 19,500 children have been transferred or deported since 2022, with about 6,000 reportedly sent to re-education camps.
