UK Regulator Pulls Children’s Gummies After Undeclared Melatonin Found

The MHRA has ordered the gummies off the market following tests that found 1.5–1.7 mg of melatonin in each serving.

  • The product was sold online as a dietary supplement for children aged four and above with packaging advising one to two gummies per day.
  • Melatonin is a prescription-only medicine in the UK and typical pediatric dosing begins at 1 mg, increasing to a maximum of 5 mg under clinical supervision.
  • The MHRA has worked with online retailers to withdraw all listings and is instructing parents to stop using the gummies and return any remaining stock to pharmacies for secure disposal.
  • Caregivers are advised to watch for side effects such as drowsiness, headache, dizziness and nausea and to report any adverse reactions through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
