Overview
- Officials said in July that 85% of pension records are now linked to the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard, a sign of fresh momentum in the long-delayed project.
- Money and Pensions Service has completed phase 1 consumer testing and is running phase 2 trials with about 2,000 members of the public to check functionality and user experience.
- Legislation requires all in-scope pension providers to connect by 31 October 2026, and nearly 1,500 providers have joined since April 2025 with only very small schemes (fewer than 100 members) largely exempt.
- When the service opens to users they will sign in with a GOV.UK One Login, supply a National Insurance number, and pass secure identity checks that may include photographing identity documents.
- Estimates put 3.3 million forgotten pension pots at about £31.1 billion and the dashboard is expected to help people locate those pots and view projected retirement income, with a phased public rollout likely in 2027–2028.
