UK Raids Seize Hundreds of Counterfeit Labubu Dolls in Derby and London

Trading Standards say the fad-fueled knockoffs are unsafe toys with detachable parts that pose a choking hazard.

Overview

  • Derby City Council officers confiscated 523 Labubu‑style dolls during city centre inspections that removed more than 2,000 illicit items from shops.
  • Westminster Trading Standards seized about 100 fake dolls from two West End stores where the items were sold as genuine for around £20.
  • Officials reported poor construction including eyes that pop out and feet that fall off, with most items missing required safety labels.
  • Derby’s sweep also uncovered 1,511 disposable vapes, which have been illegal to sell in the UK since June 1, 2025, alongside counterfeit packaging and accessories.
  • Councils said retailers will receive written warnings and could face prosecution, with penalties for selling counterfeit goods of up to 10 years’ imprisonment or an unlimited fine.
