UK Pulls Two Glow & Lovely Creams Over Banned Chemical, Labeling Breaches

Regulators urge consumers to stop using the creams immediately, advising them to seek redress from the distributor.

Overview

  • The Office for Product Safety and Standards issued safety alerts on March 4 for Glow & Lovely Hydraglow Rose Enrich Serum Cream 50g and Glow & Lovely Advanced Multi Vitamin Serum in Cream.
  • Testing found the Advanced Multi Vitamin Serum in Cream contains butylphenyl methylpropional (lilial/BMHCA), a prohibited substance linked to reproductive harm and skin sensitisation.
  • The Hydraglow Rose Enrich Serum Cream was flagged for incorrect ingredient listings and missing disclosures of specified fragrance allergens.
  • Both products were withdrawn from the UK market by distributor Lajawab Foods Limited and are deemed non-compliant with Regulation (EC) 1223/2009.
  • OPSS advises anyone who has these items to cease use immediately and contact the distributor to request redress; the products are reported to originate from Pakistan.
