Kenneth Law is charged with 14 counts of first-degree murder and 14 counts of counselling or aiding suicide in connection with 14 deaths across Ontario. Police say he ran websites selling a legal, but potentially lethal, chemical, and other suicide paraphernalia, to at-risk clients around the world.

Overview

  • British authorities are investigating two April and May 2025 deaths for connections to Law’s online sale of sodium nitrite and suicide paraphernalia.
  • Peel Regional Police allege Law shipped about 1,200 packages of a legal but potentially lethal chemical to buyers in 40 countries before his May 2023 arrest.
  • A CBC News investigation has linked his products to at least 133 deaths worldwide, including nearly 100 in the United Kingdom.
  • Law faces 28 charges—14 counts of first-degree murder and 14 counts of counselling or aiding suicide—for deaths across Ontario and remains in custody.
  • His trial, postponed pending a Supreme Court ruling on when assisting suicide constitutes murder, is scheduled to begin in January 2026.
