UK Police Forces Secure Significant Funding for Crime Prevention Initiatives

  • Thames Valley Police have received around £1m to fund initiatives in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Buckinghamshire, with specific measures including the recruitment of a rural crime advisor and the deployment of specialist police to target predatory behavior.
  • Northamptonshire Police secured almost £650,000 to invest in crime prevention, including burglary prevention, vehicle crime reduction at motorway service stations, and violence prevention measures against women and girls.
  • Bedfordshire Police have been allocated approximately £1m for initiatives that target violence against women and girls, neighborhood crime, and anti-social behavior, with the funding also set to be used for education in schools and Neighbourhood Watch schemes.
  • These grants represent successful bids to the Safer Streets Fund by the respective Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs), with implementation of the funded projects expected to commence as soon as possible.
