Speakers cast Iran’s drone supply as a direct threat to European security.

Overview

  • The Westminster event, organized by United Against Nuclear Iran with MP Tom Tugendhat and supported by Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle, featured a recovered Shahed-136 and was described by organizers as the first public display of the drone in Europe, following exhibitions in the US Congress and at the UN.
  • Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski presented the drone and said Russia uses such systems to terrorize Ukrainians, adding that decoy drones have violated Polish airspace and calling for collective defenses.
  • Tugendhat and UANI CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace condemned Iran’s role in arming Russia, warning that Shahed strikes threaten civilians and critical infrastructure well beyond Ukraine.
  • UK Defence Journal, citing Ukrainian data, reported that Russia launched more than 38,000 Shahed drones in 2025, including over 5,000 in September, with attacks hitting energy facilities and populated areas.
  • UK Defence Journal reported that recent Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace prompted NATO Article 4 consultations and spurred allied discussions on improved air-defense measures.
