Overview
- UKHSA says everyone eligible can now book NHS flu and COVID-19 vaccinations via the NHS App, GP practices, online or by calling 119, and the NHS has sent over 12 million invites though people do not need to wait.
- The winter COVID-19 booster is offered to people aged 75 and over, residents of older-adult care homes, and immunosuppressed individuals from six months old, with the programme running to 31 January 2026.
- Flu vaccine eligibility includes pregnant women and children from September, plus from 1 October people aged 65 and over, adults with long-term conditions, care-home residents, carers, close contacts of immunocompromised people, and frontline health and social care workers.
- Vaccinations are available through GP surgeries, community pharmacies, schools, maternity services, care homes and mobile clinics, with two- and three-year-olds able to get flu jabs at many high-street pharmacies for the first time.
- NHS guidance advises delaying the flu jab if unwell with a high temperature and avoiding it after a previous serious allergic reaction to a vaccine or its ingredients, with flu vaccinations available until 31 March 2026.
