Overview
- From 1 November 2026, personnel exceeding 124kg fully clothed will be barred from working offshore under OEUK guidance.
- Workers at roughly 115–124kg will receive restricted medical certificates during the transition, valid for up to three or six months.
- OEUK estimates about 2,500 workers are above the limit and another 2,500 may need support, with a yearlong plan to help affected staff lose weight.
- In statements, OEUK said employers must support staff and warned that, in the very worst cases, failure to meet the limit could result in job loss.
- Industry lawyers highlight unresolved issues for operators, including whether to fund weight‑loss drugs and how their administration aligns with offshore policies.
