Overview
- The National Youth Strategy, the first in 15 years, aims to give 500,000 more young people access to a trusted adult and bolster online safety skills.
- Up to 250 youth facilities will be built or refurbished over four years, with a £70m programme creating 50 Young Futures hubs by March 2029.
- The first eight hubs are due by March 2026 in Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, County Durham, Nottingham, Bristol, Tower Hamlets, and Brighton and Hove.
- Additional funding lines include around £60m for the Richer Young Lives fund, £22.5m for school-day support in up to 400 schools, £15m for workforce recruitment and training, and £5m to strengthen local partnerships.
- Ministers emphasise support to navigate online risks rather than blanket social media bans, citing young people’s preferences and enforcement concerns.
