UK Clocks Go Forward on March 29 as British Summer Time Begins

Forecasts show evening daylight passing 8pm in stages across the UK after the change.

  • This year's switch comes a day earlier than in 2025, with the one-hour move marking the start of BST.
  • Some areas, including County Fermanagh, see post-8pm sunsets immediately, with Edinburgh around April 6, Cardiff April 10, Birmingham April 12, and London April 17.
  • Before the switch, pre-6am sunrises arrive around March 19 at Ness Point and March 22 in London; after BST begins, they return around April 14 at Ness Point, April 18 in London, April 19 in Edinburgh, and April 24 in Cardiff.
  • Most smartphones and smartwatches are expected to update automatically at 1am, while analog and decorative clocks will need manual adjustment.
  • The clocks are set to go back by one hour on Sunday, October 26, 2026.
