UK braces for severe weather with snow and rain warnings across the country

A yellow weather warning for snow affects large parts of England and Wales, while Scotland faces heavy rain and potential flooding.

  • A 24-hour snow warning has been issued for much of England and Wales, with temperatures dropping as low as -10C in parts of Scotland.
  • Snowfall could bring travel delays and power cuts, with up to 20cm expected over high ground.
  • Scotland is under a yellow weather warning for rain until 9pm on Monday, with up to 170mm of rain possible, leading to potential flooding.
  • The severe weather conditions are due to a mix of cold air from the north and mild air attempting to move in from the south.
  • Further warnings for ice could be issued later in the week as temperatures drop below average.
