Overview
- Since February 2022, 2,209 UK branch closures have been announced across major high-street banks.
- More than 20 locations are shutting in November, including 16 Lloyds branches listed alongside Halifax, Santander and Bank of Scotland sites.
- By the end of December, the 2025 tally is set to reach 536 closures, with 72 already scheduled for 2026 and 49 more awaiting dates.
- Under a voluntary process, LINK assesses each closure’s impact and reports 246 recommended replacement services such as hubs, free ATMs or enhanced Post Office access.
- Cash Access UK says nearly 200 banking hubs and over 100 deposit services are in place, with two hubs opening weekly and a goal to reach the 200th before Christmas.
