Overview
- The agreement provides technical, airworthiness and safety support to keep Typhoons mission-ready, including engineering work tied to the ECRS Mk2 radar programme.
- The contract secures 250 high-skilled roles across sites such as Farnborough, MOD Boscombe Down, Malvern, Lincoln, Bristol, RAF Coningsby and Warton.
- The Aurora Engineering Delivery Partnership, led by QinetiQ with partners including Atkins, BMT, Frazer-Nash and KBR, will deliver the work, with thousands employed across its wider supply chain according to industry figures.
- QinetiQ says it will invest £10m to integrate digital and AI technologies developed with UK SMEs and plans to extend AI use across other MoD engineering services.
- Support under the deal is expected to benefit UK forces and export customers, following last year’s £8bn sale of 20 Typhoons to Türkiye, and accompanies a separate £453m radar manufacturing contract announced this week.
