Overview
- South Central Ambulance Service reported a 19% rise in 999 calls between 29 December and Sunday compared with the prior week.
- London Ambulance Service handled 42,118 calls over the week, an 8% increase, with many linked to falls on ice and respiratory problems.
- Other trusts also logged higher demand: East of England up 13%, West Midlands 10%, South East Coast 5%, North East 5%, North West 4%, and Yorkshire 3%.
- East Midlands Ambulance reported 16% more calls on New Year’s Day than last year, including alcohol-related incidents and firework injuries.
