Overview

  • UIDAI chief Bhuvnesh Kumar has written to state and UT chief secretaries urging special school-based camps to finish children’s Mandatory Biometric Updates.
  • The UDISE+ platform now shows each school which students still need MBUs after a technical integration with UIDAI and the Department of School Education and Literacy.
  • Under Aadhaar rules, children must update biometrics at ages five and 15, with possible deactivation if not completed within two years of each age milestone.
  • Updates are free between ages 5–7 and 15–17, while out-of-window updates cost ₹100 and will rise to ₹120 from September 1.
  • The government notes around 17 crore pending records and warns that delays can hinder authentication for scholarships and for exams such as NEET, JEE and CUET, with UIDAI’s north-east office issuing a public appeal.
