Overview
- Users with a linked mobile number or email can now recover lost Aadhaar numbers or enrolment IDs online in seconds through OTP verification
- Residents without a registered mobile must visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra and pay a ₹50 fee to update their number before using the retrieval service
- End-to-end online updates of key Aadhaar details—name, address, date of birth and mobile number—will eliminate most in-person visits starting November 2025
- Address-change requests are free through the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026, and utility bills are now accepted as valid proof under OTP authentication
- A revamped digital Aadhaar app slated for release will enable QR code-based ID sharing and automatic cross-verification with government databases to reduce fraud
