UIDAI Launches Vision 2032 Overhaul as Portal Confirms Limited Online Aadhaar Updates

UIDAI’s website confirms that only address changes are available online at present.

Overview

  • A high-level expert committee led by UIDAI chairperson Neelkanth Mishra will draft the Aadhaar Vision 2032 roadmap aligned with the DPDP Act and global cybersecurity standards.
  • The framework targets upgrades using AI, blockchain, quantum computing and advanced encryption to strengthen security, scalability and resilience.
  • Media claims of broad online demographic updates from November 1 were contradicted by the UIDAI portal, which still requires in-person visits for name, date of birth and mobile number changes.
  • Reports say an e-Aadhaar mobile app is expected by end-2025 to let users update minor details via smartphone with AI-based authentication and database checks, while biometric changes will remain in person.
  • UIDAI has revised fees to Rs 75 for demographic updates, Rs 125 for biometric updates and Rs 40 for reprints, with online document uploads free until June 14, 2026, and Aadhaar–PAN linking due by December 31, 2025 before possible PAN deactivation on January 1, 2026.
