Overview
- The University Grants Commission on June 30 published detailed guidelines on the National Scholarship Portal, and the application window closes on October 31
- The scheme will award 10,000 new scholarships this year, each providing ₹8,000 per month over ten months to support undergraduate studies
- Eligibility requires students to be domiciled in one of the eight northeastern states, enrolled in a full-time first-year undergraduate degree, and from families earning no more than ₹4.5 lakh annually
- Applications from those in distance, open, part-time or private programs and those admitted via management quota are ineligible under scheme rules
- Awards are disbursed via direct bank transfers and are renewable annually if recipients meet attendance and academic progress requirements
