UGC NET June 2026 Begins Nationwide Computer‑Based Testing

The test determines eligibility for JRFs, faculty posts, PhD admissions under strict ID and security rules.

Overview

  • The National Testing Agency began the CBT UGC NET on Monday, June 22, 2026, and will run exams through June 30 with two daily shifts from 9:00 am–12:00 pm and 3:00 pm–6:00 pm.
  • Candidates must bring a printed admit card, an original valid photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, passport, voter ID or driving licence) and a passport‑size photo with PwD certificates where applicable or they will be denied entry.
  • Examination centres enforce a wide ban on mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, earphones, written notes, bags and other electronic or storage items and possession of banned items can lead to cancellation of candidature and disciplinary action.
  • The exam is a single three‑hour CBT session made up of two papers—Paper I on teaching and research aptitude and Paper II on the chosen subject—with 300 objective MCQ marks in total and no negative marking.
  • NTA has advised candidates to reach centres at least two hours early for frisking and ID checks, and the agency recently added forestry and statistics to the subject list which affects candidates who selected those disciplines.
