UGC Issues Letter of Intent for UNSW Bengaluru Campus at AIESC Meeting

The approval signals a deepening IndiaAustralia education partnership linking campus expansion with joint research grants plus school-to-skills initiatives.

  • UNSW will begin classes in August 2026 in Bengaluru, offering undergraduate degrees in business, media, computer science and data science, plus a postgraduate degree in cybersecurity that confer the same UNSW qualifications.
  • Quality assurance will follow joint governance arrangements with oversight by UNSW’s Academic Board to ensure equivalent academic standards.
  • Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Australian Education Minister Jason Clare formally handed over the LoI during the 3rd AIESC meeting in New Delhi, with Jayant Chaudhary and Andrew Giles participating.
  • With this clearance, India now counts seven Australian universities with eight campuses, with Bengaluru selected for its technology ecosystem and industry-linked learning opportunities.
