Overview
- India’s UGC issued a Letter of Intent to UNSW, handed over by Dharmendra Pradhan and Jason Clare during the 3rd AIESC meeting in New Delhi.
- UNSW Bengaluru will open in August 2026 with undergraduate programs in business, media, computer science and data science, plus a postgraduate degree in cybersecurity.
- Degrees will mirror those at UNSW Sydney, with joint governance and quality assurance overseen by the university’s Academic Board to maintain equivalent standards.
- With this LoI, UNSW becomes the seventh Australian university operating in India, following earlier clearances for La Trobe, Victoria, Western Sydney and the University of Western Australia.
- AIESC outcomes also included ₹9.84 crore in SPARC funding for 10 India–Australia research projects and new collaboration in early childhood education, CBSE schools in Australia, teacher training and sports education.
