UEFA Confirms Euro 2028 Schedule: Cardiff Opener, Wembley Final

All four hosts must qualify, with two fallback berths reserved for any that miss out.

Overview

  • Tournament runs June 9–July 9, 2028, with 24 teams playing 51 matches across nine stadiums in eight cities.
  • If England qualify directly, they will open at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium before two group games at Wembley, with knockout venues determined by their group finish.
  • Wembley will stage both semifinals and the final, which will kick off at 5 p.m. local time, with other quarter-finals in Cardiff, Dublin and Glasgow.
  • UEFA set standard kick-off times of 1400, 1700 and 2000 GMT, and plans more than three million tickets for fans.
  • Northern Ireland is not a match host after Casement Park funding fell through, but Belfast will host the qualifying draw on Dec. 6, 2026, as governments pledge up to £740m and an assessment projects about £3.6bn in socio-economic benefits.
