UEFA Bans Mourinho, Fines Roma For Referee Abuse Following Europa League Final Loss
- Jose Mourinho has been banned for four matches by UEFA for directing "abusive language" towards referee Anthony Taylor during the Europa League final.
- Mourinho accused Taylor of favouring Sevilla and called him a "disgrace" with an expletive in a stadium garage after Roma lost to Sevilla.
- Roma lost a penalty shootout to Sevilla after a 1-1 draw which was the Italian club's last chance to qualify for the Champions League next season.
- Mourinho found guilty of "directing abusive language at a match official" and will serve the ban in the Europa League group stage starting in September.
- Roma fined 50,000 euros and will have their next away game in the Europa League ticket sales blocked, charges included "lighting of fireworks, throwing of objects, acts of damage and crowd disturbances".
