UCF Unveils 'Mission IX: HyperSpace' Uniforms Honoring Hypersonics Research

The design spotlights UCF’s HyperSpace Center, highlighting hypersonics work tied to U.S. Air Force collaboration.

Overview

  • The uniforms will debut Nov. 7 when UCF hosts Houston at Acrisure Bounce House Stadium in the program’s ninth annual Space Game.
  • A hypersonics theme anchors the set, reflecting HyperSpace Center research on technologies for air travel around Mach 6 to Mach 17.
  • Design cues include a Mach‑diamond helmet stripe, a rear bumper with the MXOD motto “Citius Est Futurum,” and a jersey patch for the HADES wind tunnel.
  • A delta‑shaped Mission IX patch and eight Polaris stars reference future hypersonic vehicle forms and the previous eight Space Game editions.
  • A student team of 40 undergraduates and 25 graduate students led by Professor Kareem Ahmed features in the project, and the look retains the Space U wordmark with the light blue, white, and black palette.
