Ubisoft to Shut Down Online Services for Several Older Games in January 2024

Affected games include Assassin's Creed Revelations, R.U.S.E., and Trials Evolution; online multiplayer, leaderboards, and co-op functionalities will cease operation on January 25, 2024.

  • Ubisoft has announced that it will decommission online services for several of its older titles, such as Assassin's Creed Revelations, R.U.S.E., and Trials Evolution in January 2024. The games will remain playable, but online multiplayer, leaderboards, co-op functionality, and other online features will no longer work.
  • Other games losing their online services include Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Heroes of Might and Magic VI, and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (Mac).
  • Ubisoft states that the decommission of online services for these older games is necessary as the technology backing these services has become obsolete. These outdated servers not only pose a potential security risk, but their maintenance cost is also no longer justified due to low player counts.
  • This is not the first instance of Ubisoft shutting down online servers for its older games. Last year online services for several other Assassin's Creed games and Driver: San Francisco were also 'decommissioned'.
  • Players will still continue to have access to the single-player elements of these games after the server shutdown. However, games like R.U.S.E. and Trials Evolution that largely relied on their online functionalities will see a significant impact.
