Ubisoft Soft Launches The Player Council Playtest Platform

The PC portal will collect controlled player feedback under NDA so developers can shape prototypes and live updates before public release.

Overview

  • The Player Council opened on PC with a soft launch that includes four projects: prototypes Codename Split Point and Codename Rook and live titles Riders Republic and Atomega, with Atomega scheduled to receive its first update in nine years.
  • Players can register for free but must sign an NDA, apply to individual projects, and follow a tiered access model in which testing prototypes costs nothing while testing live-game content requires ownership of the game.
  • Ubisoft bills the platform as a publisher-run alternative to marketplace Early Access that funds testing internally and brings players into development earlier than traditional external playtests.
  • The company plans to add two co-op projects, Codename Decagon and Codename Harlequin, later in 2026 and to expand features, tools, and access tiers named Member, Insider, and Shaper as the platform grows.
  • The Player Council aligns with Ubisoft's shift toward relying more on live services and its back catalogue and could reduce launch risk by letting developers find and fix problems early while giving engaged players close but NDA‑bound influence on games.
