Ubisoft Renames Creative House 2 as Massive Entertainment

The change centralizes stewardship of major Tom Clancy franchises and newly acquired IP under Christoph Hartmann to streamline development across multiple global teams.

Overview

  • Ubisoft officially renamed its Creative House 2 unit Massive Entertainment on Wednesday, folding the Montréal, Paris, Malmö (Sweden) and Toronto teams under that brand.
  • Massive Entertainment will be the global label responsible for Tom Clancy’s The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell while also developing new original IP including the acquired MOBA March of Giants.
  • Christoph Hartmann, who joined Ubisoft in June, has been appointed general manager of the expanded Massive unit and will lead cross‑studio creative and technical work.
  • Ubisoft said Massive remains part of the company and that publishing, distribution and ongoing commitments to players and partners will not change; the rename did not come with any announced new layoffs or studio closures.
  • The rebrand follows Ubisoft’s broader creative-house overhaul after a 2025 Tencent investment and rounds of cost cutting and studio closures, a shift that could concentrate resources around fewer lead teams and reshape how franchises are developed and supported.
