Ubisoft Rebuilds Rayman Legends as 3D Remake and Sets October 1 Release

The ground-up 2.5D remake preserves the original platforming, adds voiced cinematics, a new realm, dragon-ride 3D levels and expanded music to relaunch the franchise.

Overview

  • Ubisoft revealed Rayman Legends: Retold on Tuesday and confirmed an Oct. 1, 2026 release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
  • The game was rebuilt from the ground up in Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine and is co-developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan.
  • Preview coverage and Ubisoft materials say the remake keeps the original game’s platforming ‘bones’ while preserving 1–4 player local couch co-op and the Kung-Foot minigame.
  • Retold adds a new, story-driven sixth realm, fully voiced cinematics, on-rails dragon-ride 3D levels, four new musical stages and an expanded soundtrack by Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope.
  • Ubisoft set a reported $39.99–$40 price, the Switch 2 build targets 60 frames per second, and early hands-on impressions say the 3D visual style will please new players while dividing longtime fans and could serve as a foundation for more Rayman projects.
