Uber to List Blade Helicopter and Seaplane Rides Next Year in Expanded Joby Tie-Up

The move turns Blade’s routes into an on-ramp for Joby’s quieter electric air taxis pending regulatory approval.

Overview

  • Joby Aviation said Blade’s helicopter and seaplane services will be bookable in the Uber app as soon as 2026, starting with high‑demand routes.
  • The plan follows Joby’s August purchase of Blade’s passenger business for up to $125 million, excluding the medical organ-transport division now called Strata Critical Medical.
  • Initial availability is expected on Blade’s busiest corridors such as Manhattan to JFK and Newark and seasonal links to the Hamptons, with Southern Europe routes like Nice, Cannes, Monaco and Saint‑Tropez also in scope.
  • Uber and Joby have not released pricing or a confirmed city list and say booking details will come closer to launch.
  • Joby intends to replace helicopters with its eVTOL aircraft after certification, targeting a first commercial launch in Dubai in 2026 and later in New York, Los Angeles, the UK and Japan, with a four‑passenger design touted as far quieter than helicopters.
