Uber to Add Blade Helicopter and Seaplane Bookings via Joby Partnership as Soon as 2026

The move leverages Joby’s purchase of Blade to use its routes and lounges as a bridge to quieter, zero-emission air taxis pending FAA approval.

Overview

  • Joby and Uber said Blade’s helicopter and seaplane services will be bookable in Uber as soon as 2026, following Joby’s August purchase of Blade’s passenger business for up to $125 million.
  • Initial availability is expected on Blade’s busiest corridors, including Manhattan links to JFK, Newark and the Hamptons and routes in Southern Europe such as Nice–Monaco and CannesSt-Tropez.
  • The integration is positioned as a bridge to Joby’s piloted four-seat eVTOLs once FAA type certification is secured, with the aircraft targeting about 200 mph, roughly 100 miles per charge and far lower noise.
  • Pricing, city-by-city rollout and exact launch timing remain undisclosed, with the companies saying more booking details will come closer to debut.
  • Blade flew more than 50,000 passengers in 2024 and operates terminals and lounges that Joby plans to use to accelerate future markets including New York, Los Angeles, Dubai, the U.K. and Japan.
