Uber Prepares for Waymo Robotaxi Launch in Austin with New Interest List

Austin residents can now join Uber’s interest list to increase their chances of riding in Waymo’s autonomous Jaguar I-PACE vehicles when the service begins in a 37-square-mile area.

Uber and Waymo have partnered to launch a robotaxi service in Austin, with an interest list now open for users to receive updates and increase their likelihood of being paired with a Waymo vehicle.
The service will feature co-branded Jaguar I-PACE electric vehicles equipped with Waymo's autonomous driving systems, operating exclusively through the Uber app in Austin.
The robotaxis will initially operate within a geofenced 37-square-mile area, including Hyde Park, Downtown, and Montopolis, with plans for future expansion.
Riders matched with a Waymo vehicle will pay rates comparable to UberX, Uber Green, or Uber Comfort, with pricing provided upfront in the app before ride acceptance.
Waymo will oversee autonomous operations and roadside assistance, while Uber will handle vehicle maintenance, cleaning, and app integration as part of the partnership.
