Overview

  • The ecosystem builds on the US$200 million commitment announced at COP28 and was unveiled in Abu Dhabi in the presence of Mariam Almheiri and Bill Gates.
  • The four pillars include the CGIAR AI Hub hosted by ai71, MBZUAI’s Institute of Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence, the open‑source AgriLLM, and AIM for Scale based at NYU Abu Dhabi.
  • AIM for Scale is expanding AI‑powered weather forecasting and digital advisories, with India delivering AI‑assisted monsoon SMS alerts to 38 million farmers in 2025 and an ambition to reach 100 million farmers by 2030.
  • MBZUAI and the University of Chicago have begun an AI weather forecasting training program for officials from Bangladesh, Chile, Ethiopia, Kenya and Nigeria, with plans to extend to 25 more countries by 2027.
  • AgriLLM is being piloted for multilingual, region‑specific guidance and will be released as a public good, while experts stress that open data, farmer trust and government leadership are essential for uptake.
