Overview
- U2 announced the 12-track album Carnaval de Luz on Thursday, September 24, and set its release for November 13 with the new single “Silencio” available now.
- The record closes with “Torn,” a duet with Dolly Parton that Interscope described as the singer’s last recorded vocal after it was laid down in June.
- Bono told Rolling Stone that Parton rose from bed while ill to record the song and delivered a deeply soulful performance that he found hard to listen to afterward.
- Carnaval de Luz features wide-ranging collaborators including Brian Eno, Martin Garrix, Daniel Lanois, Ryan Tedder and Rosalía, with Johnny McDaid credited on at least one co-write.
- The band frames the album around themes of spirituality, friendship, freedom and resistance; the release follows two 2026 EPs, ties into U2’s 50th anniversary and arrives ahead of the group’s MusiCares recognition next February.
