tz Opens Applications for Wiesn‑Maid 2026

The paper is seeking an Oktoberfest ambassador with online entries accepted until 5 July and more than €10,000 in prizes for the winner and finalists.

Overview

  • tz opened its application window in late June and is accepting submissions at tz.de/wiesnmadl through 5 July; applicants must upload three photos and a short statement and be at least 18 years old.
  • The prize pool tops €10,000 and includes a €1,500 cruise voucher, a premium model‑workshop voucher, a seven‑month gym membership, hotel stays and Trachten Angermaier vouchers for the top finalists.
  • The contest will move from the online entry phase to a public voting round and finalist events that include high‑visibility appearances on the Wiesn such as the Trachten‑ und Schützenzug and media engagements.
  • tz has published numerous candidate profiles highlighting wide-ranging ages, jobs and local ties, and some profiles (for example a 17‑year‑old) raise questions about adherence to the stated 18‑plus rule.
  • The tzWiesn‑Maid tradition gives the winner a year of public duties and local visibility, a pattern the 2025 winner Sophia Koch described as personally and professionally significant for meeting people and representing the festival.
